Kumiko is an ancient Japanese art form of fitting together wooden pieces in a grid without the use of fasteners. Each piece is hand cut and hand fit into place. Traditionally used to build shoji doors and screens, the technique is adapted here to create wall art. Each panel is set into a maple frame painted with milk paint.
